Carousel Camps: Summer 2008

"Carousel" is a unique troop camping program where volunteer Carousel camp counselors plan special Saturday program for participating troops. Camp counselors receive a free weekend at camp, wonderful leadership and planning opportunities and fun! Summer Carousel sessions are held at several GSSJC camps.

Camps typically take place on weekends. Troops arrive Friday evening and depart by 2 p.m. on Sunday. The cost of the camp is $13 per person for girls and adults if registered by May 1, 2008, or $15 per person for girls and adults if registered after May 1, 2008. (Early Bird registration for Survive in Style ends March 15; Somewhere Over the Rainbow ends April 1). Register online or by using the Program Registration Form, and include the event code 10-56-15-6235. Deadline for registration is three weeks prior to session date.

Remember, Carousel IS NOT a service unit weekend or event, resident or day camp. To sign up to be a camp counselor troop, check the March Council Information Network for information.

Troops are responsible for:

  • A currently certified outdoor trained adult (please send in a copy of certification with registration)
  • A current First Aider and a first aid kit (please send in a copy of certification with registration)
  • Regular troop camping supplies
  • Simple meals to be cooked in outdoor facilities
  • Troop and personal camping equipment
  • SWAPS
  • Troop participation in the exciting Saturday activities

  • June 27- 29-  Girl Scouts on Safari (Camp Robinwood)
  • July 4-6 -  Colonial Kids (Camp Robinwood) 
  • July 18-20 - Eco Solutions: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (Camp Robinwood) 
  • July 11-13 – Walk Like an Egyptian (Camp Robinwood) 
  • July 18-20- Creek Stompin’ and Getting into Nature (Camp Myra S. Pryor)
  • July 25-27 - Summer Fun (Camp Robinwood)
